An incredible look at the restoration work carried out a few weeks ago at our precious Museum of Underwater Art 💙Here’s what Aliah had to say about the day:I got the chance to go out to the Museum of Underwater Art @moua_museum_of_underwater_art at John Brewer Reef, GBR with @adrenalindive and the team from @reefecologic to help conduct an engineering report of some of the structures.If there are any engineers out there looking for their niche I highly recommend getting scuba certified because I don’t think there’s too many underwater engineers that could’ve done this job!😜For this report each of the underwater structures were inspected both visually and photographed so that there’s a track record of their ageing over the years (however the materials that they use to build the structures are ocean safe and prepared to withstand a category 4 cyclone)So while a lot of the reef did seem to be intact still even after the recent cyclone there were definitely areas where large tabular corals had detached from the seafloor and flipped over.But not all hope is lost for these corals because the team with Reef Ecologic went out the next day (under the proper permits) and were able to flip a bunch of them back over so that they do have a chance of recovering and crying in the future!
